I am here again writing few things about the blurr memory of what happened with me on Thursday 8th October 2009 while coming back home. The day began pretty much as usual at 8:00 in the morning... only thing that was different today was my un-willingness to ride bike today. I had some very strong feeling of something bad happening today. Morning 10:30AM i reached office safely and bro took the bike with him. As usual i forgot to call mom to give her status update of where i was (since i was on the bike.... and everyone knows how mom's are :) )
Everything was moving along pretty smoothly and all my work was getting completed tooooo. Me and my brother had planned to leave early on Thursday since Dad was coming to Mumbai on Saturday and we had to do some preparations for his visit. I was in no mood to ride bike on Thursday... i had not even brought my Helmet (we have two helmets one which i use and one which my brother uses)
It was 18:30 and the watch was telling me to leave. I called up my brother as we both leave together and thought by 19;00 we would be leaving for home, but fate had something else in mind and there was an delay in our leaving. The delay was not in minutes but in hrs and acted as a timebomb ready to explode at alloted time of destiny's. I was cool with the delay as usually i come late at night. At around 20:30 bro comes to the office gate and hands over the Helmet and the bike to me as he decides at the last minute that he will be going with his boss in his car. I refused at that instant as well but later accepted. The reason for my refusal was the helmet and also i was in no mood to ride. The ride to my place is well over 65 kms and is no joke to do daily. 20:35 Bro left with his manager and i had to leave behind them on bike. But fate had something else in mind and as soon as i reached my desk there was some work which needed my urgent attention and the report had to be sent to my super boss. I finished the work in 25mins and left for home as i had to pick up my brother from Panvel.
The ride was smooth and i was on schedule. I reached Sanpada signal which is beyond Vashi and approx 25km from Panvel. I called up my brother from Sanpada to let him know that i will be reaching Panvel in 10mins flat. I left Sanpada signal at around 21:25 and that was the last time i saw straight road that night. Everything was going along nicely and i was pretty much on my 10min schedule when all of a sudden this guy riding in front of me had some moment which made him cut my way and i was left stranded with no place to go but to dash into him. Its fortunate that i ride slowly near Nerul flyover as there are weird people crossing that stretch without seeing here or there. I usually cross safely but today was not supposed to be my day and i banged into a bike which had left indicators glowing to take road adjoining the flyover and all of a sudden took the flyover. The speed of my bike was not uoto the usual limit which is the reason why i escaped unhurt i.e. minimal hurt.
I was admitted to the nearest DY Patil hospital by the same guy. My mom was called for nd then my brother. I didn't know where i was and what i was doing. my only concern was that the person with whom i dashed was ok. First aid was given to me at the hospital and all my scans were done. Trauma was checked for and i was fit to leave by 2:30 in the morning. But mom and bro insisited that i be taken to the nearby hospital where doctor can keep me under observation for a day or two before i am completely discharged.
Luckily none of the major parts were broken or punctured. Everything seems to be working fine and few bruises , scars and burn marks are getting healed slowly. Joints are paining and will pain even more. Rest is top of the priority. Hope to get to office on Friday again and finish my work which has been pending for a week.
For month moving ahead no bike for me as the bike will be getting serviced for the heavy damage it has taken. helmet all gone. now i get it why the viser costs so much as the amout of hit it takes is amazing.
Please pray all of you that i get my bike delivered soon as i have another major trip all planned up in month of November - December. Need my bike for that.
